KidsTalk Foundation
KidsTalk Foundation was founded in 1997, focused on helping youth all over the world. Too often today’s neglected youth resort to negative acts such as drug and alcohol abuse, obesity, gang violence, homeless, or independent acts of violence in an attempt to express their rage and anger for areas for which they do not clearly understand, and lack of having a goal in mind. Plagued by outside influences such as broken homes, obesity, gangs, and peer pressure, youth need a positive atmosphere to express their true feelings and realize that they are not alone. In this era of budget cutbacks, many public schools can no longer fund communications, fine arts and media educational programs; thus, many youth do not have the ability or opportunity to learn about media production through public school programs. These studies are essential to providing the youth of our community with an opportunity to express themselves in a non-threatening manner.
KidsTalk Youth Training Program
KidsTalk Youth Training Program (YTP) is a program introduced to give youth the opportunity in the field of media, communications and journalism. This program allows children and teens to obtain exposure to media communications through hands-on training to enhance their understanding and knowledge of production techniques, in front of the camera and behind the camera. These children come from disadvantaged backgrounds that, without the benefit of this program, would never have had this opportunity to increase there ability to have the choice to go into the world of media and entertainment business. This program was produced at Beverly Hills High School for over five years and on location throughout Los Angeles and worldwide locations.
KidsTalk In Africa: Future Leaders Program
The Future Leaders Program was established in 2005, starting with 650 orphans at three camps, Nambale, Bunyore & Kakamega, Kenya, East Africa, it is now over 1,000. The student population consists of orphaned or extremely destitute children who would otherwise be unable to receive an education or medication, also in Africa the children have to pay to go to high school; KidsTalk are sponsoring 12 students to attend high school. KidsTalk® In Africa: The Kakamega Story
Providing Hope through Education and Compassion
Ninon de Vere De Rosa Founder of, KidsTalk® Foundation has taken on a project in Kakamega, Kenya whereby a thousand, soon to be thousands, of orphans attend an extraordinary school a safe haven.
They are protected, nurtured, & educated by people who care and love them. KidsTalk® gives these kids an education and the skills to have a voice in their society.
KidsTalk® supports 3 schools, Nambale, Bunyore & Kakamega, Kenya, East Africa with a total of 1,000 students. The student population consists of orphaned or extremely destitute children who would otherwise be unable to receive an education. KidsTalk® is also sponsoring five exemplary students through high school in Kakamega.
KidsTalk® purchases every school quarter books for every classroom, desks, the teacher’s guide books, textbooks, dictionaries, school supplies, and story books for the children.
KidsTalk® established a medical clinic on the Kakamega school campus. This medical clinic is staffed by a full-time nurse and 3 assistants. A doctor from the hospital assists with special cases. KidsTalk® provides all of the medicine to keep the clinic stocked every month. Purchased a 4 wheel drive that takes the children to the hospital when they need specialized medical treatment, and take’s the medical team from the Kakamega clinic to the two outlying schools each week to provide medical services for these students.
Prior to the establishment of the medical clinic and vaccination program, on average, one child was dying at the school every month. It has now been over 5 years that KidsTalk has run the medical program and in that time...not one child has died of a treatable disease. That's approximately 100 children that are alive today as a result of the medical clinic and vaccination program.
Each year, as the students graduate from one grade and move to the next higher grade, classrooms must be built to accommodate the next higher grade.
KidsTalk® purchased a piece of property that serves as a Nursery school for children 3 – 5 years of age and also serves as a dormitory for 32 students that had no care-givers and no homes, built the 5th grade classroom at the Namble school and built the 7th grade classroom at the Bunyore school, purchased a 5 acre piece of property that is being developed as a farm. KidsTalk now have cows to provide milk 3 times a day for the students and teachers and we are planting vegetables, banana and orange trees.
KidsTalk Foundation has been officially certified as an NGO (non-governmental organization) in Kenya.
